Travels

Well it’s been another busy time with some travelling thrown in last week. I was lucky enough to be invited to photograph the Volume bikes UK team last week on their trip from the Custom Riders shop to the FISE competition taking place in Montpellier. The trip stopped off in Lille and Lyon on the way. The photos are banked for a hopefully upcoming article but as ever, I’ll tell you when to look out for those. In the meantime, here’s a 120 roll shot from the ferry

In other goings on, I went over to a private track near the M6 the other week to shoot some photos of a good friend Adam ‘Guinness’ Lewis. He’s a quirky young fellow but is as sound as they come. Shot a couple of digi snaps along with some 120 medium format shots so here they are

And finally, latest Ride UK is out, NB has the cover shot which is rad and I’ve got a couple of snaps in the Random section so go pick up a copy of that.

Film?!?

With the world more and more becoming digital for quicker and easier everything, its nice to go back the old ways sometimes. Although it’s nothing new for the serious photographer, I’ve been lacking on the old analogue front for too long so with that, I recently purchased a Bronica SQA medium format camera. Below is a studio photo of the camera shot with my D700 and below that is a trails shot off the first roll of Ilford HP5

News?

At last! Well maybe for some of you that check out my site. If this is your first visit, welcome! Sorry bout the unfinished state, the new version may be finished someday soon.
So, I guess I better tell you what I’ve been up to. In the last few months I’ve been getting back into trails, building new websites and trying to shoot as much as possible.

BuildTheWoodsRecently started a new website with the premise of being a UK Trail collaborative blog, a place where we could get all the great trail scenes all blogging together. A one-stop shop so to speak. A few months on we now have 28 places involved and we’re rocking a couple thousand unique hits a month (200,000 page hits a month)
With that I’ve been shooting trails alot more which is never a bad thing. Here’s Alex Bathurst from BLt trails and a medium format shot from Burlish trails, both involved with the site.

I’ve been doing some studio and portrait stuff too. Here’s one of a new BMX hub I had, namely a GSport Ratchet hub which is one of the best engineered hubs to date.

And another of Nicola Walker which I shot the other day. The picture is named ‘Little Red Lost ‘ with the idea of a pretty girl being somewhere she shouldn’t.Little Red Lost

And finally been shooting BMX as per usual, expect some new photos in RideUK in the coming months. In the meantime this is a shot of Shaun Hadlington from Perdiswell park in Worcester

DIY!

One of my favourite parts of photography for me (and for my wallet) is the Strobist attitude of DIY towards certain photographic equipment. So tonight I put together a Mk1 Ringflash to have a mess with. It certainly needs some tweaking but here is one of the first shots using it. Expect more to come!

Jonny Cazzola

Good friend Jonny Cazzola has recently designed himself a website to let the world know about his excellent design skills so in trying to return the many favours, go have a look at www.jonnycazzola.com
Whilst you’re there, have a look at the latest issue of his MOBzine and his new SCREAMzine.
In photography news, shot this last night at Creation/Epic Skatepark in Birmingham. It’s of the one and only Bob Stringer aka Bobcat and for once I wasn’t too annoyed with photos from there.

New Year, New Film, New Post!

Well I hope everyone had a good break and a good New Year. I did from what I can remember. It may be that time when you have to forget the festivities and get back to work but it also means you get some pictures back from the lab!
The rest are on BCBMX but this one is my favourite on the roll. It’s of Alex Bathurst at the abadoned local park. This is the first slide film roll I’ve put through the camera so I’m real happy how it came out. Anyways, here’s to a good year with hopefully many more posts! Enjoy.

RIDE UK

Well if you know or not, I’ve been contributing bits & pieces to RideUK since the Chicken informer article earlier this year. Since then the magazine has gone under some drastic backstage changes and has come out pretty good in my opinion. Latest issue is out and I’m stoked to have a Informer article again, this time for good friend Shaun Hadlington. I know alot of people from the P5 jams find it hard to believe that Shaun is under the radar in terms of being hooked up etc so I’m real glad he’s getting some coverage because he’s too good.
Here are the picture’s from the article but be sure to check out the Issue for some other great articles and what Shaun has to say.

And from last Issue, I had a medium format photograph printed part of the Project 5 Wolverhampton Jam. If you blinked you would have missed it as it ran small. Probably because I didn’t get a high res scan in soon enough, my bad! It’s of Lloyd Wright footjamming at the Metro banks

AND Finally before I forget, I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year and hopefully you’ll be back next year to see what I get up to!

Latest Stuff

Well after the joys of moving house and living out of boxes for a short while, I’m finally settled in a new place, albeit internet free at the moment. Been shooting as much medium format as I can because it’s a refreshing change. I’ve put a few photo’s from the recent but seems so distant Crunk In Clent BBQ Jam that we had and a decent Leicester street session up on BCBMX but here are a couple key shots. There’s also a Chicken Toboggan picture from Perdiswell in Worcester too.

And to show that I haven’t completely forgotten the old Digital, Chicken was blasting the new hipped mini setup at Epic/Creation Skatepark in Birmingham the other night

Ride UK 121

Got this photograph published in Issue 121 of Ride UK Magazine. Pretty small but a great trick of Niki Croft with a rail 180 at Coventry P5 Jam.
